How to Identified a hybrid Mule Lovebird

In this article i will show you how to identidied the bad type of hybrid lovebirds. So you dont waste your time trying to breed this type of lovebirds.

       A hybrid Mule Lovebird is the result of two species of lovebirds that were not compatible and still they were breed together. There are 9 species of Lovebirds. Some of them are compatible with each other and others are not compatible with each other. A lot of people are scare of cross breeding different species together because they are afraid that the baby’s   will not be fertile and good for breeding. However this is not the case all the time.

WHAT TO MIX AND WHAT NOT

Out of the 9 species of Lovebirds, The only types of hybrid that are not fertile are the result of the mix of this species.
Fisher Lovebird + Black masked Lovebirds = Good
Fisher Lovebird + Black cheeks = Good
Fisher Lovebirds + Lilians Lovebirds = Good
Fisher Lovebirds + Peach face Lovebirds = Bad ( Mule )
Fisher Lovebirds + Madagascar Lovebirds = Bad ( Mule )
Fisher Lovebirds = Canus Lovebirds = Bad ( Mule )
Black Cheek Lovebirds + Black Masked Lovebirds = Good
Black Cheek Lovebirds + Lilians Lovebirds = Good
Black Cheek Lovebirds + peach Face Lovebirds = Bad ( Mule )
Black Cheek Lovebirds + Madagascar Lovebirds = Bad ( Mule )
Peach Face Lovebirds + Madagascar Lovebirds = Bad ( Mule )

It is best to keep always your bird with another of the same specie specially if you are traying to breed all your birds. The key is not to mix any lovebirds that have the white ring around the eyes with the lovebirds that don’t have the white ring around the eyes.

Colors OF THE FEATHERS

      You can also tell by the colors of the feathers. The bad types of hybrid Lovebirds have beautiful colors on the feathers that are very bright like the peach face but they will have a color pattern that are different. Fisher lovebirds don’t tend to have multiple color patterns on their back or wings. You can tell from far away by the color pattern that are the bad type of hybrid. Normally on fisher lovebirds you don’t this color pattern

THE RING IN THE EYE

     Another way to identified the bad type of hybrid lovebird is by looking at the ring around the eye. If the eye look’s like it has half a ring, a ring that is not full it means it was a cross breed from the fishers or back mask Lovebirds with peach face.

THE BODY SIZE

You can also identified this bad types of Hybrid Lovebirds by looking at the body size. Normally fishers are smaller the the Peachface Lovebird. When you see a fisher lovebird that Looks big like the size of a peach face it means its a bad Hybrid lovebird. Always check also for the color patterns and the ring around the eyes to be able you are sure you are classifieds it as a Bad hybrid Mule .
The Mule Hybrid lovebirds can make great pets and can be beautiful in color but they are not good for breeding propose.
